Framptons’ History

With its roots in the heart of the Mendip Hills in Somerset, Framptons remains a family ownership under the direction of Clive Frampton as Chairman, and Ian Harvey, Clive’s cousin, as Managing Director.

In 1898 George Frampton founded an egg production and packing facility in nearby Street. The business moved into the manufacture of egg products in 1898, when George’s son, Norman Frampton, acquired the premises in Shepton Mallet, from which the company still operates.

Whilst continuing to supply basic egg products to the major food manufacturers, Framptons concentrated in recent years on the development of cost effective, functional, egg-based blends designed to provide customers with labour saving, consistent and microbiological assured complete recipes.
Our introduction to the UK in 1996 of extended shelf life (ESL) liquid egg products offered the foodservice sector a range of ready-to-use egg products, available from the fridge, with a shelf life of 35 days.

In 1998 Framptons began producing a range of cooked, frozen omelettes and chilled scrambled egg mixes. These provide further cost saving opportunities for foodservice providers, whilst guaranteeing product safety, consistency and conformity.

The millennium saw a move into the contract packing of foods and beverages, and this division of the business now offers brand owners a cost effective solution for the manufacture and packing into chilled gable top and bag-in-box, and ambient 1 litre square cartons.
